My hair has always been the one part of me that I have always hated. It's naturally curly but I hate the curls I have naturally. If I let my hair air dry, my hair comes out looking like it's not even been washed. It's also thick and frizzy. A few years ago, I started using a flat iron and it's made all the difference. Now, I always straighten my hair but sometimes I would like a nice gentle curl in my hair for special occasions and such. That's where the Curl Wand from Pro Beauty Tools comes in. I was sent a Curl Wand for review purposes.

Individual Sense of Style #jcpback2school

I cannot believe it is almost August. Where has the summer gone? My daughter goes back to school August 30th but its time to think about back to school for her. This means getting all of the school supplies in order and of course, getting all of her school clothing purchased.

My daughter has always had an odd sense of style when it comes to clothing. When she was an infant, I would try to dress her up in pretty little dresses but she NEVER was having it. She would cry until I took it off and put her into more comfortable clothing. As a toddler, she would strongly prefer tomboyish clothing. This meant no girly dresses, no girly tshirts and no girly skirts. I couldn't even put her into girly jeans. I once purchased her a real cute girly outfit that had bows on the shirt and shorts and over the course of the day, she managed to pull off ALL the bows because she hated them.

In the recent few years, my daughter has been having many behavioral and emotional issues, which I recently foun…

Excellent Article in Woman's Day Magazine in September 2011

Image
There will be an EXCELLENT article in the upcoming September 2011 Woman's Day magazine. It's an article about how to handle a couple of tricky tween/teen situations. As parents, we all want what's best for our children and to keep them safe.

The article covers 4 situations that face many tweens/teens in todays world.

1. "My 13 year old wants a Facebook account but I don't think he's old enough"
The article explains why teens are not caught up and ready to use current technologies and if you do allow your teen to have a Facebook account, how you can protect them and what red flags to look out for.

2. "My 14 year old daughter wants to start dating. Is that too young?"
The article explains how to talk to your daughter about what exactly dating means to her and that for most 14 year old girls, they are generally too young for dating. It further explains at what age most girls are ready, how to slowly let your daughter gain responsibilities with dati…

I Sleep in My Own Bed-Children's Book Review

Image
My daughter has a permanent place in my bed at night. I have tried just about everything and she is just too afraid to sleep in her own bed. No doubt this is my fault as I let her start co-sleeping when she was 2 months old. I was recently offered the chance to review a childrens book called "I Sleep in My Own Bed" by Glenn Wright. I knew just by the title that I was interested. Anything that might help with my current bed situation, I am all for it.

Book Description(From Amazon.com)
Any parent of a toddler has been through the troubles of their child being too scared to sleep in their own bed "just because"--because of a monster, because of a noise, or because of a bad dream. Hopefully this book will be the companion to all the reasons why our young ones should want to spend more time in their bedrooms and realize that there is nothing to fear. This book takes a child on a journey to all the places they wouldn't want to sleep and outlines the reasons why t…

About Kim & Scott's Pretzels:
Since 1995, Kim and Scott Holstein, co-founders of Kim & Scott’s Gourmet Pretzels, have grown their business from the kitchen in Kim’s studio apartment to a national presence selling millions of pretzels each week via grocery store chains like Albertsons, Target, Walmart and Whole Foods.  In addition, their pretzels can be found at Barnes & Noble, and via regular appearances on QVC, where they sold more than 150,000 pretzels in just 12 minutes when they debuted on the network.

TruKid Review & Giveaway

Image
I am super careful about what goes in my daughters body. I am equally careful about what sunscreen, hair care, hand washes etc that she uses. I hate that most products are loaded with chemicals and I generally try to either limit use of those or don't use them at all when it comes to her. When I found a company named TruKid, I knew I had to try out their products. I contacted the company and they happily sent me a few of their products.

About TruKid:

TruKid is a California based company founded by Jennifer Adams Bunkers, a busy mom of 6! TruKid is an all natural and organic line of hair, body and skin care products for children. Their goal at TruKid is to spread the word about helping our kids create healthy habits, starting with their skin, but they want the kids to have fun while using their products as well. This is why they use brightly colored bottles, use fun product names and employ a simple symbol system that kids can easily recognize. This system is called the "TruKid…

No Air Conditioning!

Lord help me! My central AC unit isn't working properly. It's 92 degrees out and will be near 100 tomorrow.

The best part? The part needed to repair it, will take a week to get here. My daughter gets super cranky in the heat and so do I.

HELP! :)

Netflix Price Hike!

I want to start off by saying that I LOVE Netflix and have been a member for a few years. I love the ability to stream movies and TV shows via computer, via Roku and via my bluray player in my living room. That said..

I was very upset to receive an email that said I would have to pay more for the services I already had. Seriously Netflix? You just had a price hike not that long ago!

A few months ago, I was paying $8.99 a month for 1 DVD out at a time and unlimited streaming. Then a price hike came along and the price went up to $9.99 a month. Okay, it was only a dollar so I paid it.

NOW to get the same 1 DVD at a time and unlimited streaming, Netflix wants $15.98 a month? Yes I am a frugal person but I had to draw the line with a 60% increase.

Can I afford it? Absolutely.
Is it WORTH $15.98 a month? YES!

But I rarely sit and watch the mailed to my home DVD's. I looked at the mailed to my home DVDs as a bonus for subscribing to the streaming so basically with that said, I would be …

Knot Genie Detangler Brush Review & Giveaway

Image
There is one part of the day that both my daughter and I don't look forward to at all. The brushing of her hair after her bath! It's ALWAYS a big time fight because she says it hurts and I end up yanking out big clumps of her hair in order to get it brushed. She has PDD-NOS so even the slightest amount of pulling or tugging on her hair, upsets her a lot. I have tried detangler sprays and they don't work and leave a gross residue behind. I have also tried special shampoos, conditioners and brushes and nothing has worked.

I recently found the answer to our prayers! It's called the Knot Genie Detangler Brush.

About Knot Genie-
The magic trick behind the Knot Genie™ is one we are happy to reveal. It all has to do with the different lengths of teeth on the brush. When brushing, they bend just right, to gently untangle the hair. And because of this lack of stress, the hair's cuticle stays unharmed... revealing the smoothest, shiniest hair you've ever seen.

My Though…

Oral B Professional Care Power Toothbrush Review, 50% Rebate & Giveaway

Image
Everyone knows that oral hygiene is important. Having clean teeth and healthy gums is important, not only from a visual standpoint but also from an overall health standpoint. Bad oral hygiene can lead to other serious health problems. Most people however, use a manual toothbrush and unfortunately, no matter how well you brush or how often, you probably are not getting all of the plaque off your teeth. That being said, power toothbrushes are definitely the way to go.

I recently received the Oral B Professional Care Power Toothbrush, Model 1000, for review purposes. I know for me personally, Oral B is one of the first companies that come to mind when I think of oral hygiene.

About Oral B-
The Oral-B brand is a worldwide leader in the over $5 billion brushing market. Part of the Procter & Gamble Company since 2006, the Oral-B brand includes manual and power toothbrushes for children and adults, oral irrigators, oral care centers and interdental products, such as dental floss. Oral…

Eco Lips Review & Giveaway

Image
I was recently sent samples from Eco Lips for my review. I love lip balms but usually either they don't work well or are full of chemicals.

About Eco Lips-
In the early 1990s, Andrea Danielson began brewing small batches of natural lip balm in her kitchen for her friends and family.  She took great care in handcrafting the balm and packaging it in small amber glass jars to preserve the freshness of the pure ingredients.  Andrea didn’t realize that by giving a sample of her natural lip creation to Steve Shriver, her life would be changed forever.
Having larger than average lips, Steve was continually searching for a better lip balm.  When Steve met Andrea in 1995, he immediately fell in love with the lip balm, and moments later he also fell in love with Andrea.  They were married in 1997 and Steve, a lifetime entrepreneur, quickly spent Andrea’s life savings on ingredients and packaging for the couple’s first product, Hemp Lip Buzz.
By 2003, Steve and Andrea had …
