About Eco Lips-
In the early 1990s, Andrea Danielson began brewing small batches of natural lip balm in her kitchen for her friends and family. She took great care in handcrafting the balm and packaging it in small amber glass jars to preserve the freshness of the pure ingredients. Andrea didn’t realize that by giving a sample of her natural lip creation to Steve Shriver, her life would be changed forever.
Having larger than average lips, Steve was continually searching for a better lip balm. When Steve met Andrea in 1995, he immediately fell in love with the lip balm, and moments later he also fell in love with Andrea. They were married in 1997 and Steve, a lifetime entrepreneur, quickly spent Andrea’s life savings on ingredients and packaging for the couple’s first product, Hemp Lip Buzz.
By 2003, Steve and Andrea had built a specialized private label natural body care company focusing on making high quality products for many other successful brands. Their company rapidly became a leading natural body care manufacturer in the Natural Products industry.
Much of the growth of their business was due to their top sales representative and entrepreneur, Jim King. Working out of his California office, he founded and grew a successful and environmentally friendly promotional products company called Access Eco. He enjoyed the process of building other peoples' brands through promotional products, but something was missing.
Jim had a vision of creating a lip balm brand like no other. He became obsessed with lip balm! Jim looked at every lip care brand currently on the market, buying them, one by one, until he had acquired over 200 different samples. From petroleum-based lip care to natural brands, he packed all of these samples and flew to Iowa to meet with Steve about his dream.
Jim and Steve spent hours mulling over a 10-foot conference table layered with what would soon become their competition in the lip balm industry. The goal was to create a brand image and an organic formula that would take market share from petroleum-based lip balm brands.
Voilà! Eco Lips was born! Jim and Steve swiftly brought the product to market and began raising awareness of the importance of pesticide-free products.
Today, Eco Lips lip balm is handcrafted in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. With the mission of satisfying the needs of every customer, Eco Lips has been first to market with several innovative organic lip care products and packages. With environmental initiatives in place, a focused marketing and sales strategy, award winning packaging, and a relaxed, yet productive work environment, Eco Lips is making its way around the world, one set of lips at a time.
Eco Lips products feature nutrient rich, all natural and organic ingredients.
I was sent 4 Eco Lips products for my review. I was thrilled to be able to pick 3 of the 4.
Gold Balm on an Eco Clip-
I loved that this came on a clip. These are purchased separately. It's perfect to attach to my keychain so my lip balm doesn't get lost in the bottom of my purse. I didn't find it at all greasy and it applied well. I have dry lips year round for no apparent reason, especially in winter and summer. I found this balm to be full of moisture and lasted a long time. The gold balm is from Eco Lips' premium lip care line and made from the finest certified organic jojoba oil. I like this in times where I don't want a flavored lip balm but still need some lip healing qualities.
Pure & Simple Kiwi-Strawberry-
The pure & simple line contains 100% edible fruit flavors. The fact that this line is edible means they are great for kids. Lets face it, kids tend to want to eat things that smell good. The Kiwi-Strawberry variety smells wonderful! I loved having the flavor of kiwi-strawberry on my lips for a few hours without the calories! Again, it was super soothing and did a great job healing my dry lips.
Honest Kids Goodness Grapeness-
I chose this variety for my daughter. I know she loves grape and she loves lip balm(she calls it lipstick). The smell is wonderful and grapey(is that even a word?lol) I tried some first and just like the other varieties, I found it to be super rich and nourishing on my lips. My daughter loved the smell and how it tasted. She was always licking her lips when she had some on. I got a big thumbs up from her on this.
Dagoba Chocolate Mint-
This was my favorite of the varieties I got to sample. Yes, it was creamy, rich and soothed my lips but I loved it because of the way it smelled and tasted on my lips. I love chocolate and love mint so this was a perfect combination. I found myself opening it several times a day just to sniff it. By using this, I got my chocolate fix with no calories! ;)
Overall, I love Eco Lips products and will be sure to try some different ones next time. They have tons of varieties to choose from.
You can purchase Eco Lips products at their website. Retail price range from about $2.49-$3.49 each. I am unsure what stores carry these because the store locator on their website said there were no stores within 50 miles of me that carried these and I've not seen them in my local stores. I would imagine places like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's may carry these.
The generous people at Eco Lips have offered 1 lucky reader to win their own Eco Lips Gold Balm on an Eco Clip.
