TruKid Review & Giveaway
I am super careful about what goes in my daughters body. I am equally careful about what sunscreen, hair care, hand washes etc that she uses. I hate that most products are loaded with chemicals and I generally try to either limit use of those or don't use them at all when it comes to her. When I found a company named TruKid, I knew I had to try out their products. I contacted the company and they happily sent me a few of their products.
About TruKid:
TruKid is a California based company founded by Jennifer Adams Bunkers, a busy mom of 6! TruKid is an all natural and organic line of hair, body and skin care products for children. Their goal at TruKid is to spread the word about helping our kids create healthy habits, starting with their skin, but they want the kids to have fun while using their products as well. This is why they use brightly colored bottles, use fun product names and employ a simple symbol system that kids can easily recognize. This system is called the "TruKid Learning System". It enables kids to identify what part of their body the product is for (face, body, hair etc). This combination of colors and symbols allows children to build independence while also instilling healthy habits to last a lifetime.
TruKid products are FREE of Parabens, Phthalates, Gluten, BPA, SLS, 1-4 Dioxzane and fragrances. They DON'T test on animals and the products are made right here in the USA!
I was sent 3 products for review purposes. TruKid Helping Hand Wash, TruKid Bubbly Body Wash and TruKid Sunny Days Sunscreen.
My Thoughts:
The first thing I noticed about the TruKid products were the bottles. They were all bright and colorful. The second thing I noticed was the smell. They all have a fruity scent to them. The scent is not overly strong which I really like. I really like that the Helping Hand Wash and the Bubbly Body Wash came with 2 pump dispensers. You can choose to use these or you can just use the regular pop cap lids that come on the bottles. We chose to use the pump dispensers. I find them easier for my daughter to use.
First, my daughter and I, tried the Helping Hand Wash. My daughter was excited to get to try these out. I showed her the bottle and she said "It's for my hands" because of the picture on the side of the bottle that says HANDS and shows a picture of a hand. I felt like the hand wash did a great job at cleaning my daughters hands. She now knows which bottle to use when she needs to wash her hands.
Second, we used the Bubbly Body Wash. My daughter immediately knew that the bottle was for the body because it has a picture of a stick figure on the bottle, along with the word BODY. My daughter loved using this in her bath to wash herself. She kept saying it smelled good and she liked the bubbles. It did a great job at getting her clean as well.
Third, we tried the Sunny Days sunscreen. Most sunscreens on the market are FILLED with chemicals, are smelly, and leave a sticky residue. I was happy to see on the bottle that it says Mineral, Non-Chemical sunscreen. It also does not contain Vitamin A. It has a little less SPF then I would prefer for my daughter, SPF 30+ but that's only because she's very fair skinned and burns very easily. Again, she knew what the product was for due to the stick figure picture and the word BODY on the bottle. We have used this many times this summer and I love it. It's easy to apply and non smelly. I found that it stayed on a lot longer than other products, therefore we didn't need to keep reapplying over and over. This was important because she loves to swim and hates to stop to reapply sunscreen.
Overall, I am very happy with these products. My only complaint would be the price. They are a bit more expensive than your average product on the market. The 2.0 ounce bottle of sunscreen is $13.99, the 8 ounce Helping Hand Wash is $7.99 and the 8 ounce bottle of Bubbly Body Wash is $8.99. You do get what you pay for in these products which is a plus and I would say the price is pretty comparable to other natural and organic products on the market. With that said, I would still highly recommend them.
