Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Spring 2012 Collection Review plus a Giveaway!
About Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics
Founder and President of Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, Pauline Youngblood, had cystic acne as a teenager. She was told then by her doctor that she shouldn't wear makeup because the skin needed to breathe and heal. Like most teenagers, this just wasn't a suitable option.
As an adult, Pauline loved helping people, which lead her to work as a Medical Aesthetician in Beverly Hills offices of dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons. After working with people on a daily basis who had traumatized skin from harsh laser treatments, acne and rosacea, she began to work with chemists to develop a more suitable option. She wanted a cosmetic that would cover raw, inflamed or discolored skin but allow the skin to breathe and heal. This lead to her initial work with natural mineral cosmetics.
After developing her first loose mineral foundation, Youngblood's patients experienced such success that they continued to use it long after their skin had healed. Patients and friends then convinced her to sell it commercially and in 1996, Pauline founded Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics.
Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics is now a full line of cosmetics and Youngblood Cosmetics continues to create top quality products which are innovative in packaging and in their formulations.
I received Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Spring line which is due out in March 2012. As someone with skin issues, I appreciate cosmetics that don't make my skin worse. I was shocked when the package arrived as I had no idea what would be included in the Spring collection.
I received: 4 Luminous Creme Blushes, 1 Lipstick and 1 Eye-Illuminating Duo Pencil.
|Isn't Youngblood packaging sleek??|
The first product I tried was the eye-illuminating duo pencil($22.00 MSRP).
As the name suggests, it's a dual-ended multi-purpose pencil. On one end, it's a matte tone in a pink-nude, the other a shimmer in a iridescent champagne-beige color. Designed to brighten, reflect light and accentuate and transform tired-looking features, this pencil can be used as an eyeshadow base or to enhance eyes. I used it as an eyeshadow base and couldn't believe how easily it applied. Normally, makeup pencil items are hard to apply and almost hurt to apply due to the pressure that's needed. This was NOT the case! It helped my eyes look more open and bright, which I totally need.
Over the course of a few days, I tried each luminous creme blush ($27.00 MSRP each).
Top Left: Taffeta
Top Right: Rose Quartz
Bottom Left: Champagne Life
Bottom Right: Tropical Glow
These new luminous creme blushes are amazing! They are super creamy and full of shimmery luminosity. I couldn't believe how easily they applied, how long they lasted after being put on and how much shimmer they had. They are oil free and can be easily applied using fingertips, which is how I applied them. I really liked each color. All four shades are suitable for all skin tones as well. LOVE THESE!
The last product I received for review was a Youngblood lipstick in Tangelo ($19.00 MSRP).
|Sheer, creamy coral-orange color|
I admit that this isn't my color at all even though it states it's suitable for all skin tones. However, for review purposes, I did put some on so I could at least tell you about it. It applied very easily and was super creamy. I left it on for a few hours around the house(again, not my color at all and I wasn't leaving my house with it on, sorry Youngblood!). Even after drinking and eating normally, it seemed to withstand pretty well and stayed looking pretty fresh at the days end. I love everything about this lipstick except the color.
I would highly recommend this cosmetic line to anyone, especially those with traumatized skin or issues such as acne. None of these products caused me any irritations, inflammation or any breakouts.
