Kid Basix Safe Sporter Bottle Review

As parents, we want what is best for our children. We want them to drink more water instead of soda and sugary juices. The easiest way I personally have found that gets my daughter drinking water is with bottled water. She loves it because its cold, tastes better than tap water and it's in her own little bottle.

However, with all the negative press about how bad plastics are and how bad bottled water is for the environment, I switched her to a reusable plastic water bottle. which I thought was pretty safe and healthy....

Until Kid Basix contacted me in regards to their line of childrens sippy cups and bottles. It wasn't until I read about their products that it dawned on me how bad plastic and plastic water bottles (even the reusable kind) might be.

About Kid Basix (from their website)
At Kid Basix, we started a revolution when we rethought the sippy cup and created the Safe Sippy™ no-spill bottle from clean, non-leaching stainless steel. But while BPA-free products are still important to parents, the world is changing. Safety, value, the environment - they are all important now. And Kid Basix will continue to be at the forefront of that conversation as we !rethink: EVERYTHING.

Kid Basix was kind enough to send me one of their bottles for review. I chose the Safe Sporter 16 ounce in Purple.

The first thing I noticed was the sleek design of the bottle. It is visually appealing which is important if you want children to want to use it. I love the mud cap on the top! No more little caps that fall off or get lost and then you're stuck with getting the spout all covered in who knows what. It's a nice cap and covers the entire top of the bottle so once it's shut, it's shut and you won't need to worry about germs getting onto the spout. You also won't need to worry about any spillage.

As you can see, it's entirely made from 18/8 food grade stainless steel, which is a natural microbial used in hospitals for it's cleanliness and durability. This is a major plus because my daughter has been known to leave juice in her cups and they end up sitting for days(unknown to me) In a regular plastic bottle, it grows mold and sure, you can clean it but I usually just throw them away. What a waste of money!
This is the bottom of the bottle. It has a soft coaster on the bottom which is a nice feature. While the entire vessel is stainless steel, the purple that you see around the bottle is a TPR sleeve which has a beaded effect on it for easy gripping. This is especially important for children who may not be able to grip easily.

My daughter LOVES her new Safe Sporter bottle from Kid Basix. I have been putting cold Brita water in it for her. She loves taking it to school so she has fresh water all day. We love taking it when we go for walks or to the park so we can get a nice drink on the way instead of at the gross water fountains. I think it's a great value for the money considering it won't need replaced as often as the plastic water bottle types or as often as the bottled water bottles from the stores that can cost $5.00 for a 24 pk.

Kid Basix also has other products including their Safe Sippy cup geared for younger children and toddlers.

Buy It: You can purchase the Safe Sporter 16 ounce bottle in a variety of colors at the Kid Basix website for $15.95.

Disclosure: I received a complementary sample in order to facilitate a review. No other compensation was received. All opinions were honest and my own.
