Most everyone owns a cell phone and it's especially an important device to have while on the go. In the case of a car accident or other emergency, it's important to be able to make a call to get help. But what happens when you need to use your cell phone while on the go and your battery is dead?

This is where having a portable charger comes in handy. I recently received a +Lifeguard Mini 1 Portable Charger for review purposes. I received mine in the pink color.

I thought the overall packaging of the product was nice and compact. The device was packaged safe and sound within the box but was easy to take out without much hassle.

The contents of the box are the +Lifeguard Mini 1 Portable Charger, Charging Cord for the charger, instruction booklet and for a limited time, a small lightning charging cable. I thought the inclusion of the lightning charging cable was a nice touch. I know for me personally, I keep all charging cords in my home and don't have any extras to keep in my purse etc while on the go, so to have an extra one, is great. While it comes with a lightning charging cord, the charger can be used on other devices other than Apple brand. It can be used on many Android devices as well.

The charger itself is a bit heavier than I expected it to be. It's definitely not super heavy but it's got a nice weight and you can tell it's well made.

Using the portable charger is simple. Just make sure the charger itself is charged, which can be done via the USB cable provided in the box, and simply plug in your cell phone or other device and you're done. Your item starts to charge instantly. I keep the +Lifeguard Mini Portable Charger in my purse when I am out and about and need a charge, I can just pull it out and charge my phone.

The only issue that I have with the product is that when it's charging a device, it does light up blue but there is no real way to tell how much charge the portable charger itself has. It would be nice to know if the portable charger itself was running out of charge so you could recharge it. Other than that, I feel it's a great portable device that doesn't take up much space and is great for on the go.
